Heidelberg

 

I really wanted to visit Heidelberg and it just over an hour by train and then I caught a bus, to the old town. I walked from the Castle looked to busy to visit.  There were several weddings taking place and one had food and champagne. I walked from the castle and around old town, just enjoying the views, I then headed to the bridge which has been around since 1786. The twin towers on either side one part of City Hall  had dungeons used for criminals. There's a statue of a monkey holding a mirror. The legend is that neither the city-dwellers nor people who lived outside were better than the other and they should look over their shoulder as they crossed the bridge to remember this.  As I started up the bridge and across suddenly rain came out of nowhere. I managed to get back under a bit of shelter till it stopped. I then walked around town, I found myself back near the bus stop and having no idea when the next one would come It back to town. I was back pretty early for the train so had something to eat and waited.

A visit to Wurzburg

                    

I finally made it to Wurzburg for a few days. I checked into my hotel and headed off. First thing I saw were police cars and an area blocked off. I later found out that a man stabbed 3 people and one died, right by church I was planning on visiting. Instead I kept walking until I saw Old Main Bridge and I walked across it there were many Baroque statues. They were lovely to look at.  The bridge was completed in 1452 and the statues were added in the 18th century

The next day I headed off again, I walked back to the Bridge and saw boats (looked like tour boats) in the distance, decided to walk to them and man it was far and they weren't open. I wandered around some more. Visited the church near where people we stabbed and saw people having a vigil. The next day  I look to see what else there was to in Wurzburg and I was so glad because  I saw Wurzburg Court garden and it very close to where I was staying so. I am so glad because it was beautiful place to visit and I wandered around for a couple hours.

Days out in Mainz and Hochst

                                                        

Mainz looked like an interesting town to visit and very close only 35 minutes away. St Peters church was quite pretty and it very close to museum which had a gold horse on top. The Cathedral was pretty too and I enjoyed looking around the old town.   

 

I headed off the next morning to Hochst and it was only 15 minutes away. I just love so many places to visit so close. I saw what looked like a lighthouse so I headed towards it. I found out that it was actually a Castle Hochster it was interesting looking. I walked around the old town and it was quiet pretty.
