Goodbye Faro and a visit to the Lisbon Aquarium

Today I headed off to try and find Chapel of the Bones the famous one after getting directions from the man at the desk of my hotel I set out.  I still got a bit lost and finally some how managed to find it. The Igreja do Carmo an 18th century Catholic church is known for its Chapel of the Bones, built out of the skulls and bones of monks. After paying a small admission fee, I went inside. The Church itself was pretty and after exploring it I went inside to see the Chapel as it was only opened for a limited time.

After grabbing a bit of snack I headed towards the train station to board my train to Lisbon. I was early but wanted to make sure I did not miss the train.  I got on and managed to put my suitcase in a good spot and had a seat close to it. I settled in exhausted and trying to sleep; a young man came and sat next to me and pulled out his laptop and I dozed. When I awoke he suggested changing seats but I said no. I felt pretty annoyed with him and had a very wrong first impression. We started to talk and he was such a great person to talk with and we discussed so many thing. When it was time to get off he insisted on taking my luggage and putting it on the platform for me.

Praca das Nacoe

I found my hotel and it was only about a 15 min walk from the train station but it was all up hill and it took me longer with my suitcase.  Next I headed to the an area near the Praca das Nacoe I walked around for awhile and  decided to visit the Oceanarium. I am so glad I did it was truly beautiful it has over 8,000 sea creatures!!!! I was squealing with delight with the sea otters, they were so cute and several types of penguins I was so in heaven!!!!!!

Otterly adorable

Day tripping Olaho and Tavria

It was time to do some day tripping and had a place in mind Olaho that a friend had told me about. I went to the train station and looking at the schedule it was closer than I thought, ha found out later it was not the place I thought I was going which was near Lisbon, DUH, which explains a lot. I walked along the Promenade for awhile it was quite pretty and not many tourists and looked in the Market a quite interesting building.

I was walking back through town and to look up as I was looking at the back of the church and was quite surprised to see a nest with a stork on top of the nest. It was across from the Stork Hostel which happened to have a sign underneath saying Cafe Chocolate and after snapping a few photos of he stork I went inside to have a cup of chocolate.

The next day I was on the road again this time headed to Tavria. It was quite a walk downhill to town but came across  a pretty church and looked inside and rested a bit and continued the rest of the way.  Tarvia is a pretty little town and I walked around awhile then I decided to take one of the little trains to sight see well it was hardly worth is except for getting up to the church as it would have been a hike. The train stopped and let us off and the driver disappeared without a word. So I started walking around exploring and then walked back to he bridge and the driver returned so I hopped back on. That was really not worth the bother as it went to an area and I guess what they did was pick people and drop off at hotels.

Somehow when I was up at the church I managed to climb the wall and get some amazing views. After walking around some more I slowly started up hill and finally saw a place that I wanted to eat.

Arriving back in Faro it was still daylight so I decided to take a walk.  I came across a carnival and walked around it a bit and had a yummy Filhos' and then walked to the water for a beautiful sunset.
